The Axiom Excite is a 14-speed understable distance driver. With published flight numbers of 14 / 5 / -2 / 2, it is most often described as suited for maximum-distance hyzer-flip drives for power arms, long turnover and panning lines.

Overview

The Axiom Excite is an understable, maximum-speed distance driver in Axiom's 24.5 mm rim class.[1][2] Axiom rates it 14.5 / 5.5 / -2 / 2, pairing high speed with abundant glide and an easy turnover tendency.[1] The brand says its flight emulates the popular Insanity but with added speed and even more glide, letting power throwers send long, panning turnover lines and high-speed rollers with a late, gentle fade.[1] Like all Axiom drivers it uses GYRO overmold construction, with a higher-density rim around a lighter inner core for added stability and torque resistance.[1]

Flight numbers describe the published behavior of the disc when thrown at its design speed. Real-world flight varies with plastic, weight, age, and thrower power. The community-averaged numbers above reflect crowd-sourced observations from real throws — typically slightly more understable than the manufacturer's published values, which is the most consistent pattern across nearly every commercial mold.

The Excite rewards arm speed — power throwers can unlock its easy straight and turnover shots, while average arms will more often see a straight-to-fade flight, and newer players may not gain much distance given the high power threshold of 24.5 mm drivers.[1][3] Reach for it on long hyzer-flip lines, max-distance turnovers, and high-speed rollers.[1] Premium Neutron and the durable Proton and Plasma blends are common stock plastics, with Eclipse glow and Fission options also offered.[1]

Best for:

  • Maximum-distance hyzer-flip drives for power arms
  • Long turnover and panning lines
  • High-speed rollers
  • Tailwind distance drives

Plastics & variants

The Excite is available in the following plastic blends from Axiom:[1]

Neutron, Proton, Plasma, Eclipse, Electron, Fission

Plastic blend significantly affects flight character. Premium plastics like Champion, Z, or C-Line generally fly more overstable when fresh and hold their stability over time. Base plastics like DX, Pro, or Active beat in faster and become more understable workhorses with use.

History

The Excite was PDGA-approved on March 25, 2018 (certification 18-36).[2] It sits in Axiom's 24.5 mm Distance Drivers class alongside the more overstable Tantrum and Delirium, filling the understable, high-glide slot of that lineup.[1] Axiom is the sister brand of MVP+Disc+Sports">MVP Disc Sports, and the Excite is built with the companies' signature GYRO dual-material overmold.[1] With a 21.1 cm diameter, a 24.5 mm rim, and a PDGA maximum weight of 175.1 g, it is a true max-speed driver intended for developed power throwers seeking distance with a forgiving, flippy flight.[1][2]
