The Kastaplast Göte is a 4-speed stable midrange. With published flight numbers of 4 / 5 / 0 / 1, it is most often described as suited for point-and-shoot straight midrange lines, touch approaches that need glide.

Overview

The Göte is Kastaplast's straight, glidey Speed 4 midrange, rated 4/5/0/1. Kastaplast's own pitch is 'point and shoot': enough high-speed stability, lots of glide and a gentle fade let it hold the line on both drives and touch shots.[1] At 21.9 cm it is a large-diameter mid,[2] which adds to its floaty, touch-friendly feel, and its zero-turn, fade-1 flight makes it slower and more workable than Kastaplast's faster Kaxe.[3] It is produced in premium K1 (including Glow and Hard versions) and base-grade K3 plastics.[1]

Flight numbers describe the published behavior of the disc when thrown at its design speed. Real-world flight varies with plastic, weight, age, and thrower power. Use the Göte wherever a straight line matters more than raw distance: threading wooded fairways, point-and-shoot midrange drives, and glide-assisted touch approaches.[1][3] It holds whatever angle it is released on at moderate power, and powers down gracefully for shorter holes where a faster mid would run past the pin.[3] The neutral flight and big-diameter grip also make it a beginner-friendly accuracy disc, while still giving experienced players a dependable control slot.[3]

Plastic blend significantly affects flight character. Premium plastics like Champion, Z, or C-Line generally fly more overstable when fresh and hold their stability over time. Base plastics like DX, Pro, or Active beat in faster and become more understable workhorses with use.

History

The Göte was PDGA-approved on November 4, 2018 (certification 18-75), slotting into the Swedish manufacturer's midrange lineup as its large-diameter straight-flyer below the Kaxe.[2][3] The name is an old Norse first name meaning a person from Götaland in southern Sweden — though many English-speaking players just call it 'the Goat.'[3] It has remained a stock K1 and K3 mold since release, and Kastaplast issued a K1 Hard Göte as tour-series Mold Team disc for team member Dallas Garber.[1]
