The Axiom Insanity is a 9-speed understable control_driver. With published flight numbers of 9 / 5 / -2 / 1, it is most often described as suited for hyzer-flips to flat that ride out for distance, controlled turnover shots and anhyzer lines.
Overview
The Axiom Insanity is a glide-heavy, understable speed-9 driver with a 9/5/-2/1 flight rating (Axiom lists the fade as 1.5).[1][2] Its high-speed turn and softened finish make it fly like a worn-in MVP Inertia: it needs less power to execute turnover and hyzer-flip lines and shows a noticeably more neutral fade than its more stable siblings.[1][2] Built on MVP/Axiom's Gyro overmold construction, it is a super-glidey driver usable across skill levels — stronger players reach for it for rollers and big turnovers, while newer or lower-power throwers can use it as an easy-distance main driver.[2]
Flight characteristics
Flight numbers describe the published behavior of the disc when thrown at its design speed. Real-world flight varies with plastic, weight, age, and thrower power. The community-averaged numbers above reflect crowd-sourced observations from real throws — typically slightly more understable than the manufacturer's published values, which is the most consistent pattern across nearly every commercial mold.
Recommended uses
The Insanity shines on shots that need a disc to turn and keep gliding: hyzer-flips that stand up to flat and ride out for distance, controlled anhyzer turnovers, and long low rollers.[1][2] Its understability and high glide also make it one of the easier drivers for beginners and lower-power arms to get distance from, since it does not demand much power to flatten out and carry.[2]
Best for:
- Hyzer-flips to flat that ride out for distance
- Controlled turnover shots and anhyzer lines
- Long, low rollers
- Easy distance for beginners and lower-power arms

Plastics & variants
The Insanity is available in the following plastic blends from Axiom:[1]
Neutron, Proton, Plasma, Cosmic Neutron, Fission, Eclipse
Plastic blend significantly affects flight character. Premium plastics like Champion, Z, or C-Line generally fly more overstable when fresh and hold their stability over time. Base plastics like DX, Pro, or Active beat in faster and become more understable workhorses with use.
History
The Insanity comes from Axiom Discs, the MVP Disc Sports sister brand launched in 2014 to offer discs with colored overmold rims; the PDGA approved the Insanity on December 19, 2014 (certification 14-95).[3] It is built on the same Gyro overmold technology as MVP's lineup and is described as an understable companion to MVP's neutral and overstable drivers — essentially a beat-in Inertia with more high-speed turn and a diminished fade.[2] It is produced across Axiom's Neutron, Proton, Plasma, Cosmic Neutron, lightweight Fission, and glow Eclipse plastics, and is regularly recommended as a beginner-friendly distance driver and roller disc.[1][2]
