The Discmania Instinct is a 7-speed stable fairway driver. With published flight numbers of 7 / 5 / 0 / 2, it is most often described as suited for straight fairway drives with a reliable hyzer finish, touch shots and controlled placement.
Overview
The Discmania Instinct is a stable fairway driver with flight numbers of 7 / 5 / 0 / 2 — an all-around control driver with strong mid-flight workability and a reliable hyzer fade.[1][3] Its notable glide keeps it hanging and pushing forward before the soft finish.[3] PDGA figures list it at 21.2 cm in diameter, 1.9 cm in height, with a 1.8 cm rim and a 1.1 cm rim depth; the mold was approved on February 27, 2019 (certification 19-19).[2] It carries the same 7 / 5 / 0 / 2 profile as the Latitude 64 Explorer, reflecting its shared manufacturing roots.[3]
Flight characteristics
Flight numbers describe the published behavior of the disc when thrown at its design speed. Real-world flight varies with plastic, weight, age, and thrower power. The community-averaged numbers above reflect crowd-sourced observations from real throws — typically slightly more understable than the manufacturer's published values, which is the most consistent pattern across nearly every commercial mold.
Recommended uses
The Instinct handles straight fairway drives, touch placement shots, and controlled lines down tight wooded fairways, finishing with a dependable fade.[1][3] Its glide makes it forgiving for developing players while still offering workability for advanced throwers.[3] It is a versatile all-around control driver rather than a wind-fighting overstable tool, so it favors clean, controlled releases over high-power forehands into wind.[3]
Best for:
- Straight fairway drives with a reliable hyzer finish
- Touch shots and controlled placement
- Workable mid-flight lines down tight fairways
- Long, accurate approach drives
- An all-around control driver for developing players

Plastics & variants
The Instinct is available in the following plastic blends from Discmania:[1]
Neo, Lux, Forge, Active Premium
Plastic blend significantly affects flight character. Premium plastics like Champion, Z, or C-Line generally fly more overstable when fresh and hold their stability over time. Base plastics like DX, Pro, or Active beat in faster and become more understable workhorses with use.
History
The Instinct was released in 2019 as the very first disc in Discmania's Evolution line — the company's first molds produced outside the Innova factories, in partnership with Latitude 64.[1][4] PDGA records show it was certified on February 27, 2019.[2] It launched in premium Evolution plastics including Neo, Lux, and Forge, and shares its 7 / 5 / 0 / 2 flight with the Latitude 64 Explorer that came from the same factory.[1][3] As the debut Evolution mold, the Instinct marked a turning point in Discmania's transition toward in-house European production.[4]
