History

The MD4 was first PDGA-approved on April 21, 2017 (certification 17-55) as the overstable complement to Discmania's neutral MD3 midrange.[2][4] Discmania re-approved an updated MD4 on March 11, 2024 (certification 24-45), keeping the mold in its modern lineup.[3] The disc was designed as a reliable overstable option that still carries — its blunt nose resists turn even on powerful throws while its glide keeps it from dumping early.[4][5] The Finland-based brand markets the MD4 as an overstable midrange workhorse for flex and headwind shots.[1][4] It remains a staple of Discmania's midrange offerings alongside the MD1, MD2, and MD3.[1]
