The Dynamic Discs Sockibomb Slammer is a 3-speed very overstable putt & approach. With published flight numbers of 3 / 1 / 0 / 4, it is most often described as suited for overstable approaches that fade hard and stop (200-250 ft), forehand flick upshots in wind.

Overview

The Dynamic Discs Sockibomb Slammer is a very overstable, torque-resistant approach putter developed with input from two-time PDGA World Champion Ricky Wysocki.[1][2] Dynamic Discs describes it as an all-new mold combining the grip of the original Slammer with the consistency Wysocki valued in the Westside Harp.[1] Sources differ slightly on its rating: Disc Golf Puttheads' specification table lists 3 / 1 / 0.5 / 4, while its summary and several retailers list 3 / 2 / 0 / 3 — either way it is a blunt, low-glide disc with a strong, dependable fade and no high-speed turn.[2] It is a distinct mold from the original Slammer.[2]

Flight numbers describe the published behavior of the disc when thrown at its design speed. Real-world flight varies with plastic, weight, age, and thrower power. The community-averaged numbers above reflect crowd-sourced observations from real throws — typically slightly more understable than the manufacturer's published values, which is the most consistent pattern across nearly every commercial mold.

The Sockibomb Slammer is built for control: short, overstable approaches that finish hard without gliding past the basket, forehand flicks that won't wobble or flip, and wind-fighting upshots that hold their angle under power.[1][2] Its torque resistance makes it forgiving even with inconsistent form, so it doubles as a reliable training tool for approach angles.[2] Dynamic Discs offers it in Prime, Classic, and Classic Blend baseline grips plus durable Lucid, Hybrid, and Classic Supreme Orbit premium runs.[2]

Best for:

  • Overstable approaches that fade hard and stop (200-250 ft)
  • Forehand flick upshots in wind
  • Spike-hyzer and skip approaches
  • Wind-fighting driving putter for power throwers

Plastics & variants

The Sockibomb Slammer is available in the following plastic blends from Dynamic Discs:[1]

Prime, Classic, Classic Blend, Lucid, Hybrid, Classic Supreme Orbit

Plastic blend significantly affects flight character. Premium plastics like Champion, Z, or C-Line generally fly more overstable when fresh and hold their stability over time. Base plastics like DX, Pro, or Active beat in faster and become more understable workhorses with use.

History

The Sockibomb Slammer was PDGA-approved on April 4, 2022.[3] It was designed with input from Ricky Wysocki as part of his Sockibomb signature line, built as a new mold rather than a reissue of the 2017 original Slammer — borrowing that disc's grip while chasing the rock-solid overstability Wysocki relied on in the Westside Harp.[1][2] Dynamic Discs is part of the Trilogy family alongside Latitude 64 and Westside Discs.[2] Carrying a 21.1 cm diameter, a 1.2 cm rim width, and a PDGA maximum weight of 175.1 g, it slots in as one of the most overstable approach putters in the Dynamic lineup.[2]
