The MVP Atom is a 3-speed straight putt & approach. With published flight numbers of 3 / 3 / 0 / 0, it is most often described as suited for dead-straight approach shots, putting from inside the circle.
Overview
The MVP Atom is a straight-flying putt-and-approach disc and one of MVP's primary putter molds. PDGA approved on December 7, 2014 (certification 14-89),[1] the Atom features MVP's signature GYRO overmold construction and is described as neutral-stability with a slight finishing fade.[2]
Flight characteristics
Flight numbers describe the published behavior of the disc when thrown at its design speed. Real-world flight varies with plastic, weight, age, and thrower power. The community-averaged numbers above reflect crowd-sourced observations from real throws — typically slightly more understable than the manufacturer's published values, which is the most consistent pattern across nearly every commercial mold.
Recommended uses
The Atom is well-suited to dead-straight approach shots, putting, and players who want minimal deviation in their putt-and-approach disc.[2] In Electron baseline plastic, the Atom beats into an extremely straight, floaty putter with extra tactile feedback in adverse weather;[2] in premium GYRO plastics like Neutron and Proton, the Atom retains its neutral stability indefinitely.[2]
Best for:
- Dead-straight approach shots
- Putting from inside the circle
- Touch tunnel shots
- Low-fade upshots through wooded gaps

Plastics & variants
The Atom is available in the following plastic blends from MVP:[2]
Electron Soft, Electron Firm, Neutron, Proton, Eclipse 2.0, Cosmic Electron
Plastic blend significantly affects flight character. Premium plastics like Champion, Z, or C-Line generally fly more overstable when fresh and hold their stability over time. Base plastics like DX, Pro, or Active beat in faster and become more understable workhorses with use.
History
The Atom was PDGA approved on December 7, 2014 with certification number 14-89.[1] It debuted as the first putter in MVP's then-new Electron plastic — a high-technology baseline plastic with a faster wear-in than older baseline blends, featuring a soft rim engineered for grip in wet conditions.[1][2] The Atom has remained one of MVP's primary putt-and-approach molds and is offered in Electron (Soft/Firm), Neutron, Proton, Cosmic Electron, and Eclipse 2.0 (glow-in-the-dark) variants.[2]
