The Dynamic Discs Judge is a 2-speed stable putt & approach. With published flight numbers of 2 / 4 / 0 / 1, it is most often described as suited for putting from circle 1 and circle 2, jump putts.

Overview

The Dynamic Discs Judge is one of the most popular all-around putters in disc golf. PDGA approved on December 7, 2012,[1] the Judge has 2/4/0/1 flight numbers and was named the 2013 Disc of the Year.[4] Its slightly deeper profile and pronounced bead give the Judge a stable, predictable flight that many players find more comfortable in hand than the slimmer Aviar.

Flight numbers describe the published behavior of the disc when thrown at its design speed. Real-world flight varies with plastic, weight, age, and thrower power. The community-averaged numbers above reflect crowd-sourced observations from real throws — typically slightly more understable than the manufacturer's published values, which is the most consistent pattern across nearly every commercial mold.

The Judge works well for circle putts, jump putts, and short approaches. Classic is the soft, grippy putting plastic; Prime is the value baseline plastic; Lucid and Fuzion are the durable premium options favored for throwing.[2][4] Beginners often find the Judge's microbead and deeper profile easier to grip than slimmer putters.

Best for:

  • Putting from circle 1 and circle 2
  • Jump putts
  • Short tournament approaches
  • Beginner-friendly all-purpose putter

Plastics & variants

The Judge is available in the following plastic blends from Dynamic Discs:[2]

Classic, Classic Blend, Prime, Lucid, Fuzion, Classic Supreme

Plastic blend significantly affects flight character. Premium plastics like Champion, Z, or C-Line generally fly more overstable when fresh and hold their stability over time. Base plastics like DX, Pro, or Active beat in faster and become more understable workhorses with use.

History

The Judge was PDGA approved on December 7, 2012[1] and named 2013 Disc of the Year, becoming Dynamic Discs' flagship putter.[4] Eric McCabe — the 2010 PDGA World Champion — later approached Jeremy Rusco and Latitude 64 about creating the EMAC Judge, a microbead variant that sits between the original Judge and the Warden in stability.[3] The Sockibomb Slammer, Ricky Wysocki's signature, is a more overstable companion within the broader Judge family. Subsequent variants include the Supreme Judge (PDGA approved November 21, 2022) and the Judge XS (PDGA approved February 8, 2024).[1]
