The MVP Disc Sports Nomad is a 2-speed stable putt & approach. With published flight numbers of 2 / 4 / 0 / 1, it is most often described as suited for straight putts inside the circle, touch approach shots that glide and sit.

Overview

The MVP Nomad is a straight-stable putt-and-approach disc with flight numbers of 2 / 4 / 0 / 1.[3][4] It was designed by World Champion James Conrad to match his ideal putter, from the rim depth and shoulder height down to a small bead.[1] The Nomad is built to fly neutral inside the circle and let a touch of fade kick in farther out, so it holds anhyzer and hyzer angles well and tracks straight off the tee for throwers of every power level.[1][3] Its above-average glide (4) helps it float to the basket on touch shots.[1][4] MVP makes it in grippy Electron plastic across Soft, Medium, and Firm densities, plus the premium glow Eclipse line.[3][4]

Flight numbers describe the published behavior of the disc when thrown at its design speed. Real-world flight varies with plastic, weight, age, and thrower power. The community-averaged numbers above reflect crowd-sourced observations from real throws — typically slightly more understable than the manufacturer's published values, which is the most consistent pattern across nearly every commercial mold.

The Nomad excels at straight putting inside the circle, gliding touch approaches that settle softly, and approach shots that need to hold an anhyzer or hyzer angle.[1][3] Off the tee its straight-stable flight gives confident, repeatable lines for all power levels with enough glide to stick under the basket.[1] Electron Soft is the grippiest putting feel, Medium splits the difference, and Electron Firm holds angle better for driving and approaching; the Eclipse line adds glow.[3][4] With only mild fade it is a control putter rather than an overstable utility disc.[4]

Best for:

  • Straight putts inside the circle
  • Touch approach shots that glide and sit
  • Holding hyzer or anhyzer angles on approach
  • Straight tee shots for all power levels
  • Jump putts and run putts with glide

Plastics & variants

The Nomad is available in the following plastic blends from MVP Disc Sports:[1]

Electron Soft, Electron Medium, Electron Firm, Eclipse Glow

Plastic blend significantly affects flight character. Premium plastics like Champion, Z, or C-Line generally fly more overstable when fresh and hold their stability over time. Base plastics like DX, Pro, or Active beat in faster and become more understable workhorses with use.

History

The Nomad was PDGA-approved on March 22, 2021 (certification 21-36).[2] It is the signature putter of James Conrad, designed to his specifications and released as part of MVP's James Conrad Line, whose travel-and-exploration theme paired the Nomad with Utah's Arches National Park.[1] The concept proved fitting: Conrad won the 2021 PDGA World Championship in Utah, sealing it with a now-famous long jump putt.[1] MVP Disc Sports, based in Massachusetts, is known for its Gyro overmold technology, though the Nomad's putter feel centers on grip and shape rather than rim weighting.[1] PDGA records list a 21.2 cm diameter, a 2.0 cm height, and a 1.4 cm rim depth.[2] It is produced in Electron Soft, Medium, and Firm plastics and the premium Eclipse glow line.[3][4]
