The Westside Discs World is a 14-speed very overstable distance driver. With published flight numbers of 14 / 4 / 0 / 3, it is most often described as suited for overstable high-speed distance drives for big arms, forehand and backhand power shots that need a hard finish.

Overview

The Westside+Discs">Westside Discs World is a very overstable, speed-14 distance driver built for big arms.[1][3] Westside rates it 14 / 4 / -0.5 / 3 — most databases show the turn as 0 — giving it a fast, low-to-the-ground flight that resists turning over even on maximum-power releases before a strong, dependable fade.[1][3] Despite its overstability it carries a surprising amount of glide for a disc in this class, letting it cover real distance on flex and hyzer lines.[1][4] It is Westside's fastest high-speed driver and is aimed squarely at advanced, high-power players.[1][3]

Flight numbers describe the published behavior of the disc when thrown at its design speed. Real-world flight varies with plastic, weight, age, and thrower power. The community-averaged numbers above reflect crowd-sourced observations from real throws — typically slightly more understable than the manufacturer's published values, which is the most consistent pattern across nearly every commercial mold.

The World is a power-arm distance and utility driver for shots that demand a hard, predictable finish — flex shots, headwind drives, forehand and backhand power throws, and spike hyzers.[1][4] Its overstability makes it dependable in wind and on anhyzer flex lines that need to come back, while its glide stretches out the distance.[1][3] Westside offers it in durable VIP and Tournament premium plastics and grippier Origio.[1] Lower-power players will struggle to get it up to speed; it is not a beginner or low-speed control driver.[3]

Best for:

  • Overstable high-speed distance drives for big arms
  • Forehand and backhand power shots that need a hard finish
  • Headwind drives and spike hyzers
  • Flex and skip shots off a flat or anhyzer release

Plastics & variants

The World is available in the following plastic blends from Westside Discs:[1]

VIP, Tournament, Origio

Plastic blend significantly affects flight character. Premium plastics like Champion, Z, or C-Line generally fly more overstable when fresh and hold their stability over time. Base plastics like DX, Pro, or Active beat in faster and become more understable workhorses with use.

History

The World was PDGA-approved on October 28, 2013 under certification number 13-70 (listed by the PDGA as "World (Maailma1)").[2] PDGA figures record it at 21.2cm diameter, 1.6cm height, a 1.2cm rim depth, a 2.4cm rim thickness, and a maximum weight of 176.0g.[2] Westside+Discs">Westside Discs — a Latitude 64 sister brand based in Finland — released it as the brand's fastest, most overstable high-speed driver, positioned above the Giant thanks to improvements in the upper mold's design.[1] It has remained a staple overstable distance and utility driver in Westside's catalog, produced primarily in the durable VIP and Tournament lines and used by power players for wind and flex shots.[1][4]
